VitreosHealth Hosts First Strategic Customer Engagement Event
SEER Summit 2018 is a Significant Milestone for the Young Company
On February 22nd, VitreosHealth invited their most innovative clients to attend the first VitreosHealth SEER Summit. Speakers and attendees agreed that the Summit was a great forum to learn from each other about how their organizations used predictive analytics for meaningful transformation in a value-based care payment model.
Dr. John McCracken, the keynote speaker, shared his views of the future of value-based care and the different forms it might take. His experience as a Clinical Professor of Healthcare Management at The University of Texas at Dallas Jindal School of Management and Adjunct Professor of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center proved to be very enlightening for all the attendees.
Dr. McCracken said, “Value-based purchasing will result in a new care delivery model resulting in a transformational change resulting in erosion of physician autonomy and hierarchy in favor of team-based systems of care with increasing provider reliability in this new model.” In this new model, “we need to have greater analytics capabilities to understand health and socioeconomic state of patients”.
Customers partnered with VitreosHealth team-members to present how they are using predictive analytics for different day-to-day use cases like medical management, quality management, risk management, and utilization management.

Some key themes presented themselves again and again throughout the Summit regardless of organization:
- Every organization has their own journey towards the value-based care payment model. That story is dictated by their markets, organizational readiness, access to resources, and leadership appetite to taking the market risk.

- The predictive analytics use cases are highly dependent on what stage of maturity the organization is in.
- Organizations are picking and choosing their battles in terms of focus areas
- There is a great need for specialty predictive models to address specific recurring challenges like new enrollees for Medicaid and Medicare, opioid abuse, oncology care, and palliative care.
- There is a market need for customizable, highly-accurate predictive models that are affordable even for small-scale providers and payers. AI-driven predictive modeling cannot be limited to only the large payers and healthcare systems.
